Remote Access

Print view

"The ability to access a network from another location"

Branch offices, telecommuters, and traveling staff are the three main functions that require a remote connection. Also consider; staff who want to periodically work from home may well be tempted to attach a modem and install a remote control application on their desktop workstation. Provide them with a supported and secure alternative and you will significantly mitigate a serious security threat.

Although security will always be our core service, we have the expertise to provide Windows infrastructure services. This enables us to take security through the planning and implementation phases of expansion, so your network will be secure from the ground up.

Performing integration at this level requires qualified and experienced technical staff. At C3SC we have the skills needed to see a project through without handing off responsibility mid-way.

We will:

  • install and configure remote access for your Windows environment.
  • create a VPN infrastructure utilizing current best practices for securing these connections.
  • integrate the authentication process with Active Directory or NIS.
  • setup your client connections.
  • show you how to add to your systems for future expansion.
  • deliver documented processes for maintenance and support.
  • simplify your IT management tasks.
  • integrate remote connectivity with your existing systems, securing those as well.

External Influences

The level of security in a system can frequently be measured by the external connections. The connections are to other systems that you have no control over and must regard with suspicion. However, your business still needs to exchange information with partners, customers, suppliers, banks, etc., to create and sustain your competitive edge. Because of this simple fact, C3SC closely examines not just isolated systems, but the interaction of those systems with your partners.

E-mail and WebMail

It is not always possible to get a remote connection directly to your base network. However, you still want to keep your remote staff connected to their e-mail.

We will install and configure a secure infrastructure for web enabled e-mail, fully integrated with Microsoft Exchange.

Make sure your team is never out of touch.

Terminal Services

Also known as a thin client or client/server.

If you need to run network, or CPU-intensive, machine specific, or limited license applications, you can achieve this with terminal services. If you have Linux client machines and want to efficiently run Windows applications, terminal services provides a scalable client server platform.

We will install, configure and secure a terminal server infrastructure, fully integrated with your existing or planed connectivity solution.

Did you know?
Almost half of all companies surveyed spend less than 2% of their IT budget on security.
And of that figure, 40% spent less than 1% citing the engagement of senior management as a significant obstacle.
Windows XP and beyond include firewall technology.
If you have a gateway to the internet or are just using Windows XP Internet Connection Sharing, Windows has a great firewall, but you need to tune it to get the best from it.
Folder views.
If you want all your files and folders to be listed the same way in Explorer, display the format you want in the right pane, e.g. details view, sorted by file type. Then Tools>Folder Options and the Views tab. Hit the Apply to All Folders button and the next time you traverse to a folder it will be in your "standard " display format.
Who is using your computer?
Don't leave your computer whilst you are logged on. It only takes a moment for someone to send an email with your account. Always shut down at night and set a password for your screen saver so your PC will remember even if you don't.
An average of $1,300 is spent per employee in companies of $10m revenue or less.
This is 10 times greater than companies with revenue of $100m - $1bn. Unable to realize the economies of scale, smaller companies spend disproportionately higher amounts on security - learn how to leverage lessons learnt by larger companies.
